The tavern is located in the
historical building of the Swedish Headquarters at Str.4 Tornu, in the Old Town.
The guests are taking their seats at the wooden tables, specially done after
medieval design. Each guest is offered the meals, served on the wooden plate, in
the middle age manner. 4 mugs of beer, each one originating from one of the
Latvian provinces, are accompanied with the traditional appetizers - cheese,
smoked meat, bread, etc. The main meal is Latvian black peas with bacon sauce -
the most traditional countryside dish. The guide tells about each region's
cooking and brewery traditions, the story is illustrated with the map of Latvia,
placed on the wall. During the high season the tasting is accompanied with the
Latvian traditional live music, in the candlelight. All the personnel are
wearing Latvian traditional country costumes and jewelery.
